Behind the work
The Apuan Alps are ancient mountains, rich in a profound and often painful history. Centuries of marble quarrying have carved their flanks, opened artificial valleys, and altered the course of waters, in many cases causing them to disappear. Here, water is a rare, fragile presence, appearing only after intense rainfall, more as an extraordinary event than a certainty. Mountain Soul originated precisely from one of these exceptional moments, when the mountain grants what it usually withholds.
When the Apuan Alps are enveloped in clouds, the landscape takes on a different breath. The wounds left by humans seem to lessen, as if the mountain could, even for just an instant, return to a more intimate and original state. The rock softens, contrasts dissolve, and the water flowing down the slopes becomes a new voice.
Exploring the Apuan Alps from below, in their valleys, is a different experience from conquering the peaks. It is a gaze that ascends, accepting a position of inferiority and listening. From the bottom, the walls loom, the water guides the eye upwards, and the mountain returns a feeling of primordial awe. There is no domination or control: only the awareness of being in front of something greater.

Each print is made on matte Fine Art paper, using archival pigment inks that ensure exceptional color rendition and a lifespan of over 100 years.
Handmade frames
The artwork can be accompanied by a handcrafted wooden frame with a 2x3 cm profile. Available in black, white, natural wood, and dark stain finishes.
Certificate of Authenticity
Each work is accompanied by a Hahnemühle certificate of authenticity and Marcello Niccodemi's signature applied directly to the print.
