Behind the work
Mount Grondilice is a mountain that defies definitive form. It never presents a single, recognizable profile but fragments into a sequence of pinnacles, folds, and edges that change character depending on the light and weather. It is a shifting presence, capable of appearing compact or disjointed, aggressive or silent. More than a summit, Grondilice is a collection of possibilities: a mountain that cannot be fixed but continually reinvents itself.
When bad weather envelops it, this mutable nature becomes evident. The clouds don't merely cover the rock; they sculpt it, rewrite it. Pinnacles emerge and disappear, surfaces break into overlapping planes, and the mountain loses all stable reference. Under these conditions, Grondilice ceases to be a place and becomes matter in transformation, almost liquid, reacting to every variation of wind and humidity.
In Silver Scales, the rock appears like an ancient skin, composed of overlapping scales that reflect a cold, diffused light. Humidity enhances the textures, makes the contrasts more subtle, bringing the tones closer until they vibrate. There is no dominant point, nor a clear hierarchy: the gaze slides along the surfaces as it would on a living body, following lines that do not lead to a summit but to a sensation.
This image arises from that unstable dialogue between mountain and atmosphere. It does not narrate an event but a state: one in which the rock loses rigidity and becomes malleable to the gaze, transforming into something that is no longer just geology, but perception. At that moment, Grondilice is not a mountain to be identified, but a form to be traversed.
